annyeong! so you are curious about who is this sleepless lady.. well, she is a boring person who like to share stuff that caught her interest. she can be blogging for hours at once with her warm sandwich turned cold cuz she’s ‘too busy’ to eat. She could also be offline for days due to mood swing. so far she’s not willing enough to share other stuff aside from lyrics cuz she thinks that’s the least she can do to keep this blog updated since she’s lazy like that. well there’s more to it. lemme introduce her in details. ok stahp with 3rd person already. hey i’m aliana! besides introducing myself, this can also be FAQs to answer a few questions about me 🙂

can i read and speak korean?

yes and no. i can read. that’s how i could do romanization 🙂 actually my listening is better than speaking. i can speak a little.. not fluent at all cos i’m suck at grammar. i think from 1 (weak) to 10 (excellence), i’m at 2.7? 🤭

did i take any TOPIK test?

no. i didn’t go to any class.

can i translate stuff?

only for easy sentence. lyrics? depends.. i did a few but with a lot of work. only doing it for desperate request or when i feel like it cos i’m not qualified enough. understanding korean is one thing, having poor english skill is another limitation.

who is my favorite celebrity/actors/singers?

my favorite celebrities are mostly actors. kim rae won, ha ji won, kang dong won etc. are among actors that i’ve liked for so long, i grew up watching them. they are like my default favorite already. lee seung gi is my default favorite too. my friends and family will think of me when they see lee seung gi’s name lol. that shows how much i’ve fangirled about him when he was an active singer. shout out to kim woo bin and lee jong suk who has a special place in my heart, cha eun woo for always make me feel good with his handsome look and genuine personality, kim seon ho for literally breathing, kim jung hyun who captivated me with his passion in acting, na in woo who i hated in the drama mystic pop-up bar, but turns out he’s a ball of sunshine after getting to know his personality in mr. queen’s behind story, big bang and super junior for being my first in kpop, msg wannabe for bringing back the fangirl in me even for temporary, winner, roy kim, jannabi, nct that i always pray for their success, mc mong oppa for his old-fashioned but-still-relevant music, are there more? of course! i love way too many actors and singers. i can’t do this.

this is just the tip of an iceberg. no way i could mention all name in here.

what is my favorite variety/reality show?

my special kdrama

» beautiful days
my 1st korean drama ever in 2001. this drama marked my first in everything. my first lead, lee byung hoon and choi ji woo, ryu si won as second male lead, and it was shin min ah’s debut drama. i remember i hated her character so much in here. i didn’t even know it was from korea cos i didn’t recognize korean language yet at this time. it was foreign to me, yet it was very interesting but i don’t know what country it came from until i watch winter sonata.

broadcasted on our national tv not long after beautiful days began airing, on different channel and different timeslot. the drama that trapped me into korean world. it was heavily promoted as this “popular drama from south korea”. i unintentionally watched the first episode and instantly fell in love. it was very beautiful, with breathtaking cinematography, the ost were amazing, beautiful actors and actresses, romantic storyline, but it was dubbed! it just happened that choi ji woo is the female lead in this drama too, so that’s how i connect the dot that the language they spoke in beautiful days is korean language.. it’s all started from there. i was at the point of no return.

i’m not sure if this was my first sageuk drama cos i watched pretty much many sageuk back then which is unforgettable even up to this day, but i can say dae jang geum has significantly boost my interest in korean history. the beautiful in everything they presented in this drama, plus great storyline, it was phenomenal. i still see ji jin hee in his role in this drama when i see him now to be honest.

my favorite soundtrack album

» winter sonata (it screams WINTER and it’s beautiful in my ears, and in my imagination)
» the lawyers (the adrenaline of modern classical crossover — i just love it beyond words)
» princess hours (the theme song literally ringing in my ears while i’m typing this)
» fated to love you (did you know that ailee’s goodbye my love won best ost in korea drama award?)
» girl who sees smell (everything is cute in this album)
» pinocchio (dalpoyaaaaa)
» who are you: school 2015 (i wanna reset, i wanna reset, i wanna resetttttt)
» reply 1988 (i’m not korean, but somehow this remake album still manage to bring me back to my childhood)
» mr. queen (great drama with perfect ost)
» goblin (the quality of this soundtrack is insane)
