Byun Yo Han (변요한) – Song of The Green Mountain/Western Mountain (청산별곡)

six flying dragon 8

청산별곡 ‘cheongsan byeolgok’ (Song of The Green Mountain/Western Mountain) is a Korean period folk song originated from Goryeo Dynasty. Sung by anonymous, this remake kinda give sad feels to the drama.. Yohan’s delivery.. arrangement.. Even Chohee’s version (especially its arrangement) sounds sad.. Below is fanvid I acquired from YT. I like it. She/he uses screen-caps to avoid copyright but I still get the feels.. Making me sad. sobs..

[Track 1 – Song of The Green Mountain I/Western Mountain I (청산별곡 I)]
편곡 (Arranger): 와락 (Warak)

Warak
Lyricists: Kim Yeong Hyun, Park Sang Yeon, Warak | Composer/Arranger: Warak

[Translations]

Sword dance and flower-viewing,
the melody of Dohwajeon¹ is shivery cheerful
All the great works for the past 500 years² went for nothing

Fathers get stabbed to death by sword,
children get torn to death under taxes
The wail of pain is echoing through Manwoldae³
in the flying ashes (of cremated bodies)

Mu-Yi-Yi-Ya (Is there any difference)? Mu-Yi-Yi-Ya?
I’m asking the world, on deciding life and death
Is there any difference between politics and swords?

You, the nameless bird in the sky,
why are you wailing so sadly?
You can’t find where wildflowers have fallen anyway

Mu-Yi-Yi-Ya (Is there any difference)? Mu-Yi-Yi-Ya?
I’m asking the world, on deciding life and death
Is there any difference between politics and swords?

You, the nameless bird in the sky,
why are you wailing so sadly?
You can’t find where wildflowers have fallen anyway
